Start with the particle and dissolved ions
Anionic flocculants are often evaluated for mineral solids or as a bridge after metal-salt coagulation. Adsorption can depend on surface sites, multivalent ions and the condition created by the upstream coagulant.
Describe mineralogy or solids source, pH, hardness, conductivity, recycle-water fraction and coagulant residual before comparing anionicity or molecular weight.
Keep the dose curve interpretable
Prepare each candidate under the same water, stock concentration and aging time. Apply equal active dose, consistent rapid dispersion and controlled low-shear growth. Measure interface movement and clear-water quality at fixed times.
Large floc is not a sufficient endpoint. Check fines capture, compacted volume, floc recovery after shear and any effect on downstream filtration or recycle-water stability.
Transfer to the plant cautiously
Locate the injection point relative to pumps, elbows, feedwells and the separator. Scale the dose on dry solids or another stable process basis, then verify across the normal feed range rather than one favorable shift.
Commercial selection should connect sample identity, method-aware product data, packaging, required documents, destination and expected monthly consumption.
